How can I optimize my Windows computer and software to work best with Shockwave?
  • Check your display settings. We require a display resolution of at least 1280x720 pixels (1366x768 is recommended). You can change your display settings in Windows by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing Display Settings from the pop-up menu. Scroll down to the ‘Display Resolution’ setting. If the setting is less than 800x600 pixels, click on the best resolution to meet our minimum requirements. To implement these settings, click ‘Keep Settings’ when the system switches to the preview.
  • Check your version of the DirectX display plugin. You will need at least version 9.0c to view most of our site. Please consult Microsoft's DirectX homepage for downloads and information: DirectX Download
  • Make sure you're using Windows' default cursors (mouse pointer icons), instead of custom cursors. You can change the pointers under Control Panel > Mouse > Pointers.

Tips for troubleshooting Shockwave

Sometimes I don't hear anything when I check out the titles at Shockwave. What can I do to hear sound at Shockwave on my Windows computer?

Please make sure you have your volume turned up to a volume you can easily recognize. When adjusting your audio sound levels there should be a confirmation sound that lets you know how loud your sound will be.

Also please check to make sure you haven’t muted the tab or site as a whole. You can check this by right-clicking on the tab in your browser and making sure ‘Mute Site’ is not turned on. If the option says ‘Unmute Site’ please click on that.
