Interesting game today. At one point I chose to spell a 6 letter word even though I could have spelled a 7 letter word since I was able to use both a J and a X by spelling JINXES. I have no idea if it was the right move but it seemed like a good idea to me. Good luck to everyone!

Did you notice today's "solution" is related to the first TS that I solved back in September? Needless to say, I had no trouble with today's DJ. I think KJ must like our TS's!!! My daughter is back in school today after being home for 3 days so I am getting to play on her computer again.

No solution yet for "NO EXPLANATION", TOM SAID _____________. If it is not solved by tonight, I will let everyone know the answer. It is two (2) syllables. The previous guesses of Briefly, Succinctly, Bluntly, Curtly, and Brusquely are all on the right track. New hints: Succinct and abrupt. I will be out for the afternoon & part of the evening, so I will not be checking answers for most of the day.

I also had trouble signing into SW this morning. I used the "contact us" link to send them email. The problem was resolved by time they replied but I was happy to see the reply anyway. It included "Thanks for letting us know. This issue should now be resolved. Please clear your Internet browser's cache, refresh the webpage, and load it again."

I believe there are 2 outstanding TS -- Jumcouple's re door latches and my NO EXPLANATION. HInt 2 on my TS-- think abridged as opposed to unabridged. I was unable to login to SW earlier today from 2 of the 3 computers in our house. My daughter is still home today so I did not try her computer. I'll wait to post a new TS (for my latest win) until after my current TS is solved. KTKF!

I do not see any answers that are close. Here is a hint -- two syllables. As I was thinking up TS's yesterday evening, I ran them by my husband and son. The one I posted was the hands down favorite. My daughter appears to have a very bad cold. She slept in this morning, and has been resting on the sofa with the laptop at her fingertips. I'm on my son's computer (2nd best in the house for this site) right now. I'll check back later.

My last 7 letters were L, V, and two wild cards on the bottom row, and N, A, and a wild car in the extra cards. I thought I spelled "Volcano" but the game thought I spelled "Valiant". Oen: Hooray!!! I think we have 4 TS's in play again -- tevob1's (lens), daisyaday's spare tire, WK's 1st jum-couple's TS post today (antique door-latch releasers), and WK's 2nd jum-couple post today (students). WK: did you withdraw the latch TS with the last post? tevob1: My guess from yesterday never posted. How about "magnificantly"? I'm going for the opposite of wide-angle panning -- zooming -- i.e., magnifying. Probably on the wrong track, but it was worth guessing.

After the wonderful party last night, the castle ***** has certainly outdone themselves again by providing breakfast goodies. Huntress and I are now up and moving about. She wants to run off some of the calories from last night, so I will not stay in the castle today. Instead, she and I will be going around the countryside and looking at the leaves and other sites. Anyone want to join us? Meet us at the Memorial Garden at 2:30 Jumble Standard Time.

The party is great. There is still time to stop by if you have not made it to the Halloween Ball in the throne room. KJ and the castle workers did a fantastic job on the decorations. My compliments to the castle chef -- both on the food for us and the fancy food for our steeds. I had no idea the chef also prepared food for the royal stables. Huntress is having a great time as Diana. I'm enjoying myself as well.

After a poor start to today's game, I ended by having only 2 cards on the board along with one extra card -- all of them wild cards. The 2 early Vs caused me trouble. I had more trouble when I had mostly vowels and consonants that were not easy to use with those vowels. I agree with Swansong. Good luck to everyone today!

Wow -- lots of stuff to read today. By time I finished reading all of the posts from today, my score appeared on the score list just above this area. Looks like I missed out again on solving TS's by playing late. I think the guess of "offensively" is the best one for the football TS. The castle's halloween decorations are looking great. Some of the jack-o-laterns are really creative. Huntress & I cannot wait to see the rest of the decorations on Saturday night.

My worse score ever -- 60! My first letters were "RMO" on the top row and "GVR" for the extra letters. I spelled "Mo". My next options were "RFNER" and "GVR". I spelled "Fern" using the first "R" (top of left pile). My next letters were all consonants -- "NRWFKGR" and "GVR". No option but to give up the game. Good luck to all!

I initially tried a different word that uses the same letters for 7 across. Of course since I do the across words before the down words, I had a bit stumped at first. I came back to it after finishing the down words. It certainly is not something I think of from that clue.

I agree with oen63. I think I had the same game today as daisyaday. I opened with UT, since my first 3 letters were T, U, and a wild card. I spelled a 7 letter word (using the wild card) for my next word. I was then unable to spell another 7 letter word with my next combination of letters but did spell a 6 letter word. I had 4 A's when I spelled my 2nd to last word. My unused letter (from extra cards) was one of those A's.) My word hint -- BARQUES which is a type of ship (plural).

The reviews are playing their disappearing act for this game. I was unable to open with a 2 letter word from the 3 cards on the top row (IVK), so I decided to use a 4 letter word that used 2 from it and 2 from the extra cards (BWE). Otherwise the game was fairly easy. 3 U's and V's, 2 W's, 1 J, 1 Q, and 1 X in my game today.

After reading the reviews, I decided to open with the highest scoring word possible, which was 4 letters. I did not spell a 7 letter word until the 4th word. The rest of my words were 7 letters until I was left with 2 consonants and 2 wild cards for my last word. I am currently in 3rd place with 1870 points. Thanks to everyone who posted earlier today. I'm glad to see stuarte surfaced. I look forward to seeing his costume involving falcons! I have been spending a lot of time in my bed with a steaming vaporizer nearby. Lots of sleep... Hopefully my cold will improve soon. Unfortunately, my children now both seem to have it as well, despite my best efforts to isolate myself. Perhaps they picked up their colds at school. What's up with the score board? The alltime and weekly lists seemed to have reset yesterday, and appear to be identical still today. My personal best score list was not reset since it still shows the ***************************** ***************************** ***************************** ***************************** ******************. My previous review regarding my costume along w/ my guess of "thinly" did not post, but I think janwpb's guess is better than my guess.

Thinly is the only word that comes to mind for the skinny monarch TS, but I doubt it is correct. My steed Huntress wanted me to dress as Lady Godiva, but I told her the costume is already taken. I'm thinking about Boudicca, the great female warrior from about 2000 years ago. I just hope KJ does not think I will lead a revolt in Jumble Land with this costume!

Hmm.. every word I come up with will not work based on all of your clues. I'm looking at words involving "servant" or even "groom", since a valet will groom their employer. Two people working for the same person would be "colleagues" or "coworkers". But you said "two syllabic". Perhaps my "thinking out loud" will help others as well. I am stumped!

No J, Q, or X for me today, but I had 3 Z's, W's, and F's, 2 V's, 1 K, and 1 U. My last Z was on the bottom row, and was needed for the bonus word. When faced with my last 12 letters and 2 wild cards, I could not come up with 2 seven letter words. Since a V and a W were two of my extra cards, I managed one 7 letter word and one 6 letter word that left one of those letters out, but allowed me to get both bonuses.

Folks who want their tokens must post to get them. It is also why you will see scores that are higher than the best score for the daily game of the day.

I see WineKitty's TS from yesterday which I am unable to solve. I did not realize the other ones were still not solved. I guess the correct answers have not been guessed... I think the scoreboard ranks people with the same score based on when you played, with the person who achieved the score most recently being listed above everyone else with the same score, and the first person to achieve the score being listed at the bottom. I came to this conclusion based on the "Overall High Scores". I used to be listed near the top of this list. However, I played early the last time "1700" was the best score, and I am now 77th on the list.

The reason there is a lack of vowels near the end is probably because there are many near the beginning. I appreciated the info. from srt41, and I still had to ration my vowels. I used wild cards for vowels at the end. My last word was "J*N". Who knows what the game thinks I spelled, but it allowed me to clear the board. Letter counts for me: 5 V, 3 W, 1 J, 1 Q, 0 X, and 0 Z.

The 3rd word almost tripped me but the pun was very easy. It is a good thing the throne room is open to all this month, since today's words may trip other people on the way to a 5X. I had a perfect game until I uncovered the last letters. I had VEVZ and two wild cards on the board, and one wild card in my extra cards. I was stumped for a 7 letter word using them. I could not even come up with a 6 letter word that would clear the board. The 2 V's were uncovered by my previous word. Had I known, I would have tried to spell a 7 letter word with the Z on the previous word. Good luck to everyone!

I go through plenty of quarters on parking meters in Pittsburgh. However, the parking lots with meters are having the meters replaced with machines that you pay in hard currency or with a credit card in return for a receipt that needs to be displayed on your dashboard to prove that you paid for the use of the spot. I always try to find a street meter since they are cheaper.

Okay, my previous two "reviews" saying that "SAGELY" is the correct answer have not posted. Maybe the 3rd time will be the charm!! Kerve45 gets to post the TS for tomorrow. SK: I need to reload the game before I post a "second" time, so I saw all of the reviews shown above my 1st post today. At the time they did not include Kerve45's posting with Sagely, but I now see it. Strange.

My top row was "KOY" so I spelled "Oy, and left the extra cards of "NUT" untouched. The four cards uncovered by the "O" and "Y" were "RMTL" which were not useful enough to spell a 7 letter word. I had no Q's but I had 5 U's, 2 W's, 1 V, and 1 X. My best word today was "Exuviae" which is a skin or shell or other outer layer discarded by an animal such as a skin left by a snake.

Another day with early wild cards not to mention seeing the U on the top level of cards with no other Q's later in the game. 3 W's, 3 V's, 2 Z's, and 1 J... Lots of vowels early when I had the wild cards, and lack of them later in the game. Good luck to all who still need to play today's game!

After finishing the game, I looked up the "clue + answer" to 5 across, and I did not find it. The closest I came to it was when the word "hatchling" preceded the answer, not "ling". There were also references to the game of golf that were in my search results. Hmm...

I'm certainly glad I spent time before using the last letter to determine the word. srt41: I did not have a Q today but my game followed what Daisyaday had to say regarding her game. I actually kept saving a U in case a Q was uncovered later, since I had a U in my extra cards.

Stuart: If you go to your profile page, you should be able to see all reviews by you that have been posted by the moderators. It should make it simpler to find your TS's. While I am poor at solving them, I always enjoy a chuckle when reading them here or elsewhere such as in my son's Boys Life magazine that he receives from the Boy Scouts.

One X today that appeared at the start, so I used it in a 2 letter word. Only 2 V's for me today. There were three U's, including 2 that were available when I uncovered the Q. One Z as well. The letters I had today were decent, with most of the them being the ones we like to use! Good luck to all today. Although I did not achieve a perfect game, I suspect quite a few people will do it.

I completed the 9/3, 9/4, and 9/5 games today (all levels) but only posted my 9/5 scores which probably means my new personal best for the easy level (1:45 for 9/3) will never appear on my "top scores" list. I believe you have to post the score for it to be stored any where. Oh well!

I just completed the puzzles from 9/3, 9/4, and today in reverse order (Sat, Fri, Thurs). Doing them one after the other gives perspective on the easiness/difficulty relative to other days. 9/3 was easier than 9/4 which was easier than 9/5, in my opinion.

Try waiting a few minutes before checking the scoreboard. There appears to be a slight delay between you finishing the game and the score actually appearing on the board. My guess is there is a background process on the Shockwave server that updates the scoreboard to incorporate the latest scores. Whether this process runs every minute or another length of time I have yet to determine.

I think I had similar letters to srt41. I had 3 Q's and 3 U's, but the Q's were early in the game and the U's late in the game. Only one U was usable with a Q. After reading the comments, I decided to open with the longest word possible (4 letters), and see where the game would take me.

One factor that helps/hinders time is the computer -- the processor speed and the amount of cpu the other applications are using. Of the 3 computers in this house, the one I just used to play today's medium & hard games is not as fast as my preferred machine which is where I played the Easy level earlier this afternoon before someone arrived at my house that interrupted my play time. (My daughter is now on the faster computer!) Just my 2 cents.

**Spoiler alert for August 3 Daily Jumble** The first word I entered was "livier". KJ wanted "virile". The funny thing about it is in my mind I was really thinking "livelier" but trying a different spelling. I looked up the definition of "livier" to realize it certainly is not another spelling of "livelier" but is truly its own word. My mind is less fuzzy today, but then I am not running around today getting quotes on the damage to my car from a hit & run driver.

A new personal best for me on the "Easy" level -- 1:46. It has been more than 3 months since my last sub 2 minute score which was 1:51 and my previous best score. I now know it is possible to solve it in 1 3/4 minutes without cheating. On to the medium and hard levels!

Basketcasejal: I play in the novice mode. Perhaps some of the "less than 2 minutes" folks also play in the novice mode. I have wondered if there are two score boards for the two modes. I too find it hard to believe someone can finish this game in less than 2 minutes if they are not in the novice mode. It is difficult to get that time in the novice mode.

After not being able to spell a 7 letter word until my 3rd word, I cleared the board today by the skin of my teeth. I had 5 letters & 2 wildcards available (5 on the board, and the last 2 extra letters), with 2 letters covered as I reached my 2nd to last word. With a prayer that the 2 covered letters would form a word, I used all 7 to spell a word. Lo & behold my prayers were answered when an "E" and "N' were revealed as my last 2 letters. Very tough start today. I started with "EME" on the board and "RUO" as extra letters. I played the first E with M for "Me". I now had "LNUUE" on the board with "RUO" as the extra letters. I was not sure that I would be able to clear the board today, since my second to last word uncovered the last letters while I did not use a "V" and my last wildcard in that word. I uncovered "AJ", and was able to spell Java. I got very lucky! Good luck to all today!!!

Tough board today. There was a Z on the 2nd row of the middle pile, Q's on the 3rd row on both the left & middle piles, and V's on the 3rd & 5th rows of the left pile. There was a U on the right pile at the start of the game and a second U in the stack of extra cards. Very few E's today. Most of the wild cards are near the bottom of the piles. I thought today was going to be another tough day when I saw two Z's early along with a V and a J. I was wrong. There were two additional V's along the way. There is a Q lurking in the bottom row in the right side pile, but there is also a U near or on the bottom row in the left side pile. Please say a prayer for Pittsburgh's fallen heros and their families. All of our local stations here in Pittsburgh are covering the events today -- procession to the memorial service by all of the out of town officers paying their respect, procession of the caskets from the city-county building to the memorial service, and final procession after the service for our fallen heroes. It has been a very sad week here in Pittsburgh. Right now they are bringing out the first casket to the hearse.

Rings02 and others: "Chag Sameach" is a greeting you can use on all Jewish holidays. It is the Hebrew words for "Happy Holiday". MDEW: I will add Christina to the "Mi sheberakh" list at my synagogue. The Mi sheberakh is a prayer of healing. How is her baby girl? What is her name?

After reading your reviews, I decided to start with a 6 letter word, and to keep trying to get as many large words as possible. I may try to play again starting with a 2 letter word.

Grendel7: I submit my scores to this game, Jumbo Solitaire, and Soduko X without getting the tokens the games are supposed to award and without the score showing in the box with my personal best scores and without my scores appearing on the top scores lists in the box above "Ratings & Reviews", even for previous days. Hopefully the kinks will be removed soon!

The third word cost me time so I ended with 3x for it and the final word so my score was 1190. After I submitted it, I checked the score tab and then selected "Daily". I received a message on the left stating I did not place in the daily rankings, but places 130 down to*************************** ************************. Has nayone else had this experience?

Extra easy today. I think 18 seconds is my best time ever. (I do not remember ever completing a DJ with plenty of time to spare in the 5X time category. Instead of tracking our own top scores in this game, I wish our best times were tracked. IMO, our top scores are meaningless since it is dependent on the length of the bonus answer.

I also never heard of the 1 across word. I only got it because I played with the 3 remaining letters after entering all of the other words. I'm glad the final river was an easy name to unscramble since it saved my score. Good luck to those who have not yet played today.

The second to last row is not kind. I managed to have all 12 letters on that row exposed at the same time. They are "OZOVVENNWJTK". My three spare letters were "INO" so I was unable to use a more than one of the troublesome letters and make a 7 letter word. Good luck to all today!

I also had one letter left, a V. How annoying to keep getting Vs & Us near the bottom. At one point earlier in the game I had all consonants and two wild cards which I had to use as vowels. A poor mix of letters on the board today. I hope other people can do better than me today! Good luck!

After starting with a 2-letter word (Er), I could not make a 7-letter word with Y,M,Q,E, & G on the board, and R,T, & Wildcard for the extra cards. I settled for a 6-letter word. There are a lot of vowels as you uncover more cards. I kept using my wild cards for consonants today.

Warning for all on today's puzzle: There are a lot of vowels early, and then letters that are not easily put in 7 letter words together (X, V, J, Q). I was left with no vowels before I could uncover the last letter of the bonus word, so I did not earn either bonus today. I hope all of you do better than me!

Thanks srt41! I had 2 consonants and 2 wildcards on the board ad 3 more consonants on the row of extra cards. I was able to make a 6 letter word using my wildcards as vowels. However, my score is probably not going to be posted since I have the "Please wait" screen and it has been more than several seconds. Oh well.

Sometimes I use a website to help find a word, but only when I'm stuck. Beware since the sites I have tried don't account for wildcards. That said, I actually used it for most of my words today since I decided to track the letters provided, words created, & the scoring after each word. I'm going to report my exact sequences to the support folks so they can see where I lost the 50 points & perhaps be able to recreate the problem themselves this time. So, I won't use 2010 as a personal best.

After today's Daily Diff, it was nice to have an easy DJ. I think 21 sec is a new personal best. Mawfever -- 7 degrees would have been appreciated a few hours ago when I had a 9 a.m. appointment. At 11:15 a.m., we are only now at 7 degrees.

I missed my score before I solved the bonus word, so I do not know if I received all of my points. Yesterday's score was 1900 which for some reason the comment reviewer removed from my comment. It was my best score ever on this game.

KublaConn, I have noticed the same thing. In fact I reported it last week after seeing it yet again, but I never heard back from the shockwave folks. That was a day when I solved the word after I cleared the board, so it was easy to see my loss of "50" points. The game deducted it from my score before the bonus points, but still gave me the 250 for the word & again for clearing the board.

I was left with "j" & "i" on the board & "w" & "r" in my extra cards. However, my 6 7-letter words helped me score 1580. I do not believe it posted since I was asked to login again when I went to submit my score. After completing that screen, I was back to the screen that showed my score but was only given the option to play again. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

2 down was tough for me today! I have seen problems on some machines when the ads update. I don't have that problem on the machine I like to use, but some times I have trouble on a different game where the whole playing board is not visible after the ads update. I then need to slide the window down & up just to see it again, while losing time on the game. At least it does not happen frequently. Stay safe and warm everyone for those of you in "snow" country today.

The score is shown based on your time converted to seconds. So... a time of 30 minutes, 0 seconds, will appear as "1800". The same scoring change occurred on the daily soduko site today. You will notice that today's scores that make it to the weekly and monthly board appear in the correct place but are still shown only in seconds while the scores form before today are still shown in the hours/minutes/seconds format.

When posting our "scores" today, the time is converted to seconds. While the daily scoreboard shows all scores in seconds, the weekly & monthly show previous scores in minutes & seconds with today's scores appearing the the correct place but listed in "seconds". I wonder why they are switching...

Bad game for me today. I'm stuck with "W", "L", & "R" on the board, and "W", "L", & F" as my extra cards. I also was not able to clear all 6 letters for the bonus word. In fact I just uncovered the last one with the last word I was able to make. Since I was able to get a 1240 despite my faults today, I hate to think what my score might have been if I did not get stuck. Better luck to everyone else today!

srt41: I like to post my scores even when they are not good on all games that I play on this site. It lets other players know that we are not always able to score high, or even near our "average" score for a particular game. It also shows that we are not good or among the best in all of the games we play.

Nice challenge today. I finally broke down and used a hint for the last one which resulted in my time being 2:54:30. I know I will not be on the scoreboard by later today, but I do not care. The important thing about playing any of these games is to enjoy it and not worry about what others are doing.

Lots of vowels early today -- both in the board & along the bottom row. At one point I had six "E's", one "A", one "U", and one "O" with three consonants. I had to conserve consonants instead of vowels for a change today. It was a really nice challenge to play today's board!
