When you send a photo into SW you never know if it's going to be a good puzzle or not, but I'm glad to see this one was reasonably challenging! Hope you all enjoy it! Had to get it done quickly first thing as we're off to collect a van and go to Felixstowe again to pick up some of MILs cabinets & 'junk' to sell to try and clear the debts. Have a good weekend all MFs!

Yup - very nice building in the sunset, Dave... but where?!?! Candy cane cut made it more challenging. Sorry that Sandra is not doing well. Happy b'day Anacleta for yesterday.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Nov 2, 2009 | report abuse
Never did get round to yesterday's in the end! Colourful easy oval for the Day of the Dead. Happy birthday NHRecycler, and my crib sheet says it's also xxiowan's. JillyW you beat me by 4 seconds! Heard from Nigel today - he's going back into hospital on Weds so they can try to sort out the chest infection. It would have to happen when we're still trying to sort out the MILs stuff and have to go to Suffolk this weekend!

Thumbs down for the weather - it's pouring with rain today. Happy bday hokeypokey and slightly belated for MDEW, plus happy anniv mblue & Mike! Off to have lunch with my parents now, but will do the jigsaw later (I hope!) - didn't get to do Friday's until last night!
-

Only just done Monday's vintage card - it was lovely, so thanks Dana! And thanks to SW for making it a regular puzzle not an oval so that it was a bit more of a challenge. Poor Ginger - hope she *does* start to improve MaryAnn. Got to get dinner ready so I'll leave today's puzzle until later...

Daily Jigsaw | Oct 25, 2009 | report abuse
It was quite a difficult puzzle but a bit of a boring result. Not got the usual 'wow' factor of many of Svetlana's photos.Went round the house adjusting all the clocks back to GMT as soon as I got out of bed, but I usually find one I've missed a few weeks later! Breakfast time...

Back to the puzzles after a few days away for MILs funeral. Not many people there so massively overcatered buffet afterwards - I brought back bags of food to freeze!! Weather turned wet last night - not good with lots of render off the house due to the rebuild. Luckily it's meant to get warmer and sunny tomorrow & Mon! GG hope your eye improves soon. Today's pic was not as hard as I thought, and I've done the hooky sundial too, but the rest will have to stay undone as I've got chores to do!

Daily Jigsaw | Oct 20, 2009 | report abuse
Train & sky were easy but the rocks were tricky! Liked the toll house from yesterday too, but agree it was a shame it was an oval. Builders have started on the refurbishment of our house at long last ... just as the weather changes!!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Oct 18, 2009 | report abuse
My first puzzle for a couple of weeks and it was very nice Audrey! I didn't find it too tricky either. MIL funeral is on Thurs - she's left loads of debt so we're trying to find any assets that can be sold. Luckily her husband (#3) owns the house & car so is safe from the credit companies. My hubby & his brother aren't entirely surprised by events - sad state of affairs really. Happier day last Weds when my middle sis finally got married - on the London Eye!

Haven't had time for the puzzles the last few days (back at work - moan groan) Welcome back JillyW - hope you enjoyed your hols!! Happy (belated) birthday to ellie and donna. Sad news for us - my mother-in-law died in the early hours of today, so we'll be off to Felixstowe this weekend to help her husband sort things out a bit. My hubby is the sole executor so there'll be a lot of****** to do!! deedondee - my thoughts are with you for tomorrow...
-
Daily Jigsaw | Oct 3, 2009 | report abuse
Lovely - can't go wrong with a sunset picture! Pretty but easy. Weather's changed here - cool and very windy so there's leaves everywhere now. Hope the wedding goes well lyndac!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Oct 2, 2009 | report abuse
Very nice rhodie! A taste of next year. The pixellation made it quite tricky - got the leaves dine quite well but had to work on shape for the flowers. Glorious sunny autumn day today so we might go out for a walk and make the most of it - back to work next week so no more chances to loll around at home!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 30, 2009 | report abuse
Lovely colourful mural and an enjoyable puzzle to put together with the crescent connectors. I'm just about to get ready for the annual Fun Run (aka walk in my case!) in aid of Cancer Research. It was raining earlier but it looks dry now - just cloudy -so fingers crossed it isn't a washout later!! Missed saying happy birthday for S4L a few days ago (that's what comes of using the laptop and not having access to my crib sheet!)
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 28, 2009 | report abuse
Nice and colourful easy oval - thanks! Much more open flowerthan the hibiscus I have, and I can see why it's so named! Nigel's packing to go home today - we've had a very lazy time while he's been staying, and I have the rest of the week off work to get the housework done!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 26, 2009 | report abuse
Took me longer than it probably should have, but then again it is 1:30am and long past my bedtime! Bit of a dark picture and not up to Svetlana's usual standard, but interesting none the less. Night all!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 24, 2009 | report abuse
Nice easy layers at the top and a bit more of a challenge at the bottom - thanks for a lovely puzzle! Amazingly blue sky!! We've had a lovely day here today so have been out for a walk (more a push for Nigel tho he did walk a bit) Glad to see you back again dee - hope you are improving now.

Daily Jigsaw | Sep 23, 2009 | report abuse
Loved the shaded sky on that one PJ - a simple but enjoyable puzzle. Very subtle 'special' cut with the little pumpkin connectors - almost didn't notice!! My sister & family had a holiday in Vegas this year so that's another place we'll probably try and get to at some point... the list's getting rather long!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 22, 2009 | report abuse
Lovely picture Jason - the leaf stems made it come together faster than I expected. Nice to see you back EMale, and glad the op went well BarbieQ
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 20, 2009 | report abuse
Not as daunting a puzzle as it looked from the pieces. Oh to be young and able to clamber around on that!! Haven't had much time for puzzles lately, and now we've got Nigel staying with us for a couple of weeks... Happy belated birthday for Jillyw somewhere on her holidays, and healing thoughts for all those in need.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 15, 2009 | report abuse
Oh bother - no reviews are showing. Puzzle was quite enjoyable - worked it from the middle outwards after I'd done the edges. Wish I could remember the name of the flower - think I'll have to look it up. It's been a horrid wet day today and very windy, so autumn is definitely here already. Hope JillyW's gone somewhere warm & sunny!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 12, 2009 | report abuse
No-one else made the obvious statement? What the well-dressed well is wearing!! Nice and colourful - thanks Dave. Lovely sunny day today, so it's out to do some gardening now the washing's all dry and back indoors.
-

Colourful pixellated puzzle - amazing that Bubba repaints it every year - that's dedication! Happy birthday darnic, and happy aniversary job4430 (and for 4evrhorses tomorrow and Bridgettt the day after). healing thouights for all in need.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 10, 2009 | report abuse
Colourful but rather odd - I can see why you took the photo Kevin!! Wonder if Mike and Adi really look like that?!! After the one day heatwave we had on Tuesday, it's much more of an autumnal temperature today. I never know what to wear at the moment!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 9, 2009 | report abuse
Very nice image Gisele, enjoyed the square cut for a change and it was still quite an easy puzzle - worked from the outside in. That's another place on my 'must visit some day' list. There was a wonderful BBC 3 part series about Yellowstone last year which definitely whetted my appetite for a trip to see it all for real.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 7, 2009 | report abuse
Easy Monday oval, but that's OK - I was up early again today to take hubby to the airport, so was in work at 6.30! Hope you're all having a good Labor Day 'over the pond'!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 6, 2009 | report abuse
Just had to do the blue first - amazing that it's just refracted light, not pigment, so the wings are brown when viewed from a different angle. Thought the leaf veins would make the background easier, but it was still tricky! Happy Father's Day "down under", and happy birthday to MDEW's hubby Joe. We're going to my middle sister's for lunch, so no cooking today!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 5, 2009 | report abuse
Interesting, Dan! Simple puzzle with the graded sky -worked from top down. DB2 - sorry to hear about Leah. I lost Gremlin at 19 last year but it wasn't too bad as I'd been expecting it - and I had Tabs to comfort me. Nice to see you back again Gerty!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 4, 2009 | report abuse
Oh good grief - who decided that a picture of oxalis in a meadow would be a good one for a mirror image??!?!?! Over half an hour and I also resorted to matching on shape. At least I'm comfy in bed with the laptop, but my eyes are certainly tired now!! Have got some of that plant in my driveway - impossible to get rid of.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 3, 2009 | report abuse
Didn't look that menacing to me! Nice colours and quite an easy puzzle. GG - I haven't got that good a memory, I just have a 'crib sheet' but it's a bit scribbly so I wasn't sure! Had to visit the Dr today with a UTI so on antibiotics and drinking cranberry juice and barley water like it's going out of fashion. Oh the joys of being a woman ;-*
-
Daily Jigsaw | Sep 2, 2009 | report abuse
I finally get a chance to do a jigsaw and it turns out to be a tricky one! I've been keeping an eye on the reviews but my SW activities have been confined to the 'quickies' like Hitori, Jumble and Roundup. There just don't seem to be enough hours in the day!! Sorry I missed saying happy birthday GGranny, but happy anniversary for you and hubby (is he Norm?) for tomorrow - 60 years is amazing!! Glad to see you around Weeborg - is the lack of surgery because you're well enough not to need it?
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 21, 2009 | report abuse
Very colourful, Marion! It's a flame lily (Gloriosa) so not an orchid. Quite an easy puzzle (Jillyw - you beat me again, but only by 15 seconds today!)
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 19, 2009 | report abuse
Very atmospheric image - thanks Karl. Moderately easy puzzle, which is good at this time of night! Healing thoughts for all in need.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 18, 2009 | report abuse
Flowers?? Butterflies?? Nothing there but an ornamental cabbage - and a very tricky one at that! Jillyw, you beat me by 5 minutes today - I blame the lateness of the hour and sitting on the bed with a laptop rather than using the big PC downstairs!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 17, 2009 | report abuse
Sweet little Magic - thanks Amanda! Had a dreadful journey home from work today - 45 mins to do half a mile and all that just because of some temp traffic lights!! Clutch-pumping gave me cramp in my leg! Poor hubby had to walk home friom the train, up the hill with his laptop bag,so we're both just relaxing now. Happy Anniversary for tomorrow to MtMama - I'm bound to forget otherwise!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 16, 2009 | report abuse
Spectacular shot Judi! It came together faster than I expected - concentrating on the green areas helped a lot. I made a guess as to where it might be and was pleased that I got it right! Never been there yet, but one day... BBQ lunch at my parents' today then babysitting my 2 little nieces tonight - after which work will be a rest!!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 15, 2009 | report abuse
Tricky little borage!! I kept thinking of Pimms all the way through that puzzle, but I don't have any of the ingredients apart from a bit of Pimms itself, ice and an apple, so I'll stick with a cup of tea!! No good without the lemonade & other fruit (and an optional bit of borage on the top to pretty it up)
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 14, 2009 | report abuse
Nice view Jacki, and I enjoyed the 'fizzy' pixellation too. It's the end of a not too brilliant week healthwise for both me and my hubby, so I'm glad it's nearly over! Healing thoughts for all in need out in puzzle land.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 11, 2009 | report abuse
Quite easy but very interesting Wonder if it's just wicker, or wire as well? I have some friends who live in Rhos-on-Sea who I've not seen in years - if we go and visit I must keep an eye out for this!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 9, 2009 | report abuse
I was about to say 'quartet? I can only see 3' and then I noticed the top of the head at the bottom of the pic! Thought it was going to be a bit of a dull puzzle, but I got all the reddish tummies & heads done, the the blueish fur and then the rest fell into place very nicely. Warm & sunny again today, so the washing's drying very quickly (chores on Sunday?! that's the trouble with being out on Sat!!) Might get a bit more weeding done in the shady bits too. Enjoy your Sunday one and all.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 8, 2009 | report abuse
Yay! lots of colour and a fun picture - thanks Arlis! Friends' bbq went very well - stayed until it was almost dark, then came home and blitzed a wasp nest in one of the airbricks once they'd settled down for the night.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 7, 2009 | report abuse
Lovely ceiling Kate and Kurt but where in Italy?!? Reasonably tricky but not too bad for a mirror image as the borders of the paintings helped considerably. After 2 very wet days it got all sunny again this afternoon so the BBQ we're going to tomorrow won't be a washout after all! Happy bday Jerry and best wishes to all who need them.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 6, 2009 | report abuse
An OK simple layered puzzle. Yet another one from the much-travelled Svetlana - getting to be almost as ubiquitous as Cinda and Holger.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 5, 2009 | report abuse
That's about the only way most people will ever see a jaguar - in a zoo. They're very elusive in the wild. At least IOW Zoo seems to be trying to be educational. Good puzzle - definitely easiest starting with the green and red areas and leaving the big cat until last!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 3, 2009 | report abuse
Very impressive shot Ken! Easy oval was just about right for me today - up v. early to take hubby to the airport again and now I'm lying on my bed with my new laptop and trying to use the mouse on top of the duvet - not too simple really!! Good luck with hospital visits to those that need them and welcome back jillyb!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Aug 2, 2009 | report abuse
Good puzzle for a sunny Sunday afternoon. Have used my new laptop for the first time having spent much of the past couple of days getting it all set up - and hubby got me a belated birthday present of a lovely bag to keep it in yesterday (somewhat better than the big padded mailing envelope I kept the stolen one in!) Best wishes to all mfs

Amazing rock formation - wind sculpted sandstone. Thought the lines would help more than they did. Wet wet day today - went shopping and bought a new raincoat!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 30, 2009 | report abuse
My comment doesn't make much sense because the first review never appeared! It's there on my profile - very odd. I just said that I hadn't had time to do the puzzles while Nigel was staying (hence my absence) and that I took the picture last year when I was convalescing. MDEW - fingers crossed for your hubby and healing thoughts for all in need. Also happy anniversary or birthday for anyone who celebrated recently!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 30, 2009 | report abuse
It turned out to be quite an easy layered puzzle, so I did it on medium as well as hard!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 30, 2009 | report abuse
Have just been catching up on some of the puzzles - didn't really have time for them while Nigel was staying with us. Nice to know I was missed! Hubby went off to NCL again today, so that was a 6am trip to the airport - means I've got 2 loads of washing done before even settling at the PC!! It's just gone 8am and today's puzzle is up... so I'm going to get a coffee and do this one on hard, as it's my pic from last year when I was 'convalescing'
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 19, 2009 | report abuse
More challenging today. Sandi, your pic has made me even more determined to get up to the NE - only ever had a long weekend in Newcastle so Holy Island and the Northumberland coast is definitely on my 'to visit' list. Meeting my parents out for lunch today, so no cooking!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 18, 2009 | report abuse
Very easy puzzle - got the sky out of the way then worked inwards! Good shot Cindi - did your neck hurt from looking up? Brings back fond memories of a Seattle holiday quite a few years ago. Rain's holding off here in S. Bucks so the washing's out on the line and drying nicely in the wind & sun.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 17, 2009 | report abuse
And now a word from our sponsor... Bright colours and a fun picture (yup, Seurat is spinning!) and the pointillism made it trickier than it looked. Rain and thunder and wind again today and quite a bit cooler - never sure what to wear when I get up in the morning. Not helped by the office aircon being on some days and not others!! Time to get dinner on the go...
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 15, 2009 | report abuse
With all the colour and texture I naievely thought it would be quite an easy puzzle - wrong! Not too difficult in the end, but the lines weren't as simple to pick out as I expected due to the special cut. Sun and showers today, but at least cousin Nigel had a good, dry drive down here yesterday...and no IV this time!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 12, 2009 | report abuse
Well Daniil, that was a little bizarre and slightly ugly but the colours in the background made it a simple puzzle to put together. Off to a school reunion today - the school is 300 years old, so there's a special weekend of events. We're supposed to be having a picnic, but I don't know if the weather will hold out!
-

Daily Jigsaw | Jul 10, 2009 | report abuse
Not too difficult sepia colour changer. Saw that boat on TV once - quite fascinating, if a bit of an odd idea! In case I forget tomorrow, Happy anniversary aussy, and Happy birthday a1actress - what was the surprise that now isn't?
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 9, 2009 | report abuse
Lovely scene from somewhere different. Only just done Tuesday's flowers as don't seem to have had time recently - nice and bright! Noisy jackdaws outside again - 22 of them yesterday! rings, I buy the fatballs from a pet shop - no time to make my own!! Happy Anniversary Scarlet! Healing thoughts for all those in need - glad to see you on the reviews weeborg, and hope you now get better soon aussychick - we know ourselves better than doctors sometimes!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 6, 2009 | report abuse
Easy oval over all too soon. Rained a bit today - hooray. Jackdaws are making a racket in the garden as the food's all gone. I reckon the collective noun should be a 'gobble' - I put out 4 fatbals and lots of seed and it's usually all gone in less than 2hrs!! Mind you, we counted 18 of them scoffing yesterday
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 5, 2009 | report abuse
Now how did I know that was going to be a Chihuly?! A very enjoyable colourful picture - thanks to our very own job4430! Off to my middle sister's for family lunch - it's a lot cooler and cloudier today, so I bet we won't be eating out in the garden, just in case...
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 4, 2009 | report abuse
Not such a difficult puzzle as I thought it might be - started top left and worked across and down to bottom right following the lines. Happy Independence Day across the pond!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 3, 2009 | report abuse
Lovely scene and not too difficult for a mirror image puzzle. Well done Svetlana on yet another picture being chosen!! Sorry to hear about your sister Scarlet, and also Warren. Heppy anniversary to piglet for yesterday. Woken at 3 this morning by a thunderstorm, so it's been a somewhat cooler day today thank goodness. Glad I'm not playing tennis at Wimbledon - don't know how they do it!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 2, 2009 | report abuse
Buddha was fairly simple to assemble but the tree background was a 'mare to put together! I'm going to do the iceberg bonus now to try and think cool - it's another really hot day again in the south east, so the windows and doors are open wide once more.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jul 1, 2009 | report abuse
Good puzzle (reasonably tricky) but a rather ho-hum picture (and it was a professional one, too). Happy Canada Day!! Another stonkingly hot day here again - house was like an oven when we got back from work, so all the windows were open and doors too. Had the cat rather confused!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jun 30, 2009 | report abuse
Anita - nice picture and quite a tricky puzzle! Happy very belated anniversary Gerty.! Hard to see the screen at the mo as Tabs has decided to wash himself in front of me, and the greater spotted woodpecker is noisily attacking the peanut feeder outside the (open) window - bit of a wildlife moment!
-

Daily Jigsaw | Jun 27, 2009 | report abuse
Another of Svetlana's pictures - and good as usual, though a tad short on information! Nice layers and a lovely cooling view of terraces. Hot & humid here today - thunder rumbled a while back so I scampered out to get the washing in off the line just in case - and now the sun's back out again!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jun 25, 2009 | report abuse
Not had time for puzzles lately, but I managed today! Have just done two gardens on the trot - loved Nelly's colourfful Keukenhof picture yesterday (I've only ever gone to Amsterdam in November, so a spring Netherlands visit is definitely needed!), and I would never have thought Disney for today's serene image! Warmer weather here too, though it's cloudy today. Happy belated bday BWKatz (sorry you've had so much bad luck recently) and very belated anniversary wishes to doonieRN.

Very nice Beth! Easy 'chunks' rather than layers - bottom left, across the top, middle left then worked to the right to finish. Been shopping a few times today - doing my bit to keep the economy going!

Lovely photo as always Joan - the background was quite challenging. Well, I got nearly everything back - the bag was hanging in a tree, a bit wet, so all they actually stole was the money, phone & USB sticks (plus the laptops). My credit cards & keys were all there - bit too late now I've got all new locks & cards tho! Sorry to hear about your freezer MaryAnn.

Easy oval of a very big tomato. Wonder if it's got much flavour? Little plum toms are the sweetest. Bit of better news - someone just delivered a bag of bits from my stolen handbag!! Off to see where he found them later this evening in the hope there's more bits around... My faith in human nature is slightly restored.

Beautiful picture Carol! Happy belated birthday to all those I missed (not getting much time for puzzles at the mo) Got the last of my replacement cards today after the burglary, the window's being mended tomorrow and the insurance company rang about replacing my laptop and mobile, so I'm almost back to 'normal' now.

Happy anniversary Ellie & Jerry, and also happy birthday to MbWinnie according to my cribsheet. No time for the puzzle today - maybe another day! We're off to Nottm once more tomorrow to bring Nigel back for another week's "care" while he does IV antibiotics again. Weather has now got cooler and wet, so of course I want the sun and heat back!!

Reasonably simple puzzle and a good view - thanks Nancy. Our warm & sunny weather continues and the birds are eating us out of house and home! There's a family of starlings that seem to join forces with the local jackdaws and gobble up the fatballs as soon as we put them out!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jun 3, 2009 | report abuse
Good puzzle Svetlana (you seem to be getting a lot of pictures used, especially on the Daily Diff!) but a bit more information would have been nice! What are all those objects - an art park or something? ggranny thanks for the mixed news.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jun 2, 2009 | report abuse
Very nice, Karen, and I liked yesterday's easy oval butterfly too. Thanks for all your thoughts Puzzlepals - the thing that grieves me the most is the loss of a handmade teddybear that came on honeymoon with us and has been everywhere since! Ggranny hope you are OK, dixie ditto, galic get better soon. Very warm here at the mo but hopefully cooler tomorrow - we complain when it's raining and then again when it's sunny!!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | May 31, 2009 | report abuse
Very easy puzzle - another from the same museum visit I think! Only just doing Sunday's jigsaw before going to work on Monday, as we were burgled early Sun morning and my handbag was one of the things taken, so yesterday was spent on the phone cancelling credit cards, talking to the police and getting all the locks changed plus one boarded-up window. I hope that June is a better month!

Daily Jigsaw | May 29, 2009 | report abuse
Woohoo! Loved that one - a real challenge not being able to do the edges first! Made me have to think about what I was connecting a bit more, so I did all the red then the middle of the prickly pear flower and then the edge pieces starting joining it all up. Lovely finished photo too. Well, the warm & sunny weather is back (yippee!) Sorry to hear about Lynn. My little crib sheet says it's Happy Birthday Raven (if you're still around)

Had a feeling it was going to be another C&H one! Not the most attractive animals (except to other baboons) but it made a moderately tricky puzzle. Off to do some shopping for gifts - there's a lot of people leaving work tomorrow (voluntarily), and I've reduced my hours to save costs too. Tough times...

Peter, that was a tricky puzzle. Good job there was the sunset sky behind the top part! We've got a second warm and sunny day here, so maybe I'll get my bicycle out for the first time in 2 years!

Nice colourful chicken & plants - thanks Sandy. Didn't have time for the goat yesterday - and from the reviews, it looks like I need to allow longer than I might think when I finally get round to it today!

Quite complicated to do in the end - and then I couldn't post my score 'cos it displayed the script instead of actually actioning it. Need to check up on some of those flags - I'm sure I should know where they're from, but blowed if I can remember!!

For once I'm glad of the easy oval! Just catching up on 4 days' puzzles as we've been away with all the family in Devon to celebrate my sister's half century. There was wi-fi at the rented house but I couldn't connect so have had withdrawal symptoms! Fri's sculpture was quite tricky, loved the Mosta dome, anthuriums were moderately difficult (don't they always look artificial?!) and bamboo was simple but striking. Congrats Emale!

An OK puzzle - not as tricky as it looked like it might be with all the sandy coloured pieces! Off to get my new glasses looked at for the fourth time - they cost a lot of money and I haven't been able to wear them for any length of time yet!!

Pretty colours in those tulips and a nice mixed group too. Easy oval is always over too quickly! Happy belated birthday 4evrhorses (I keep forgetting to check my crib list - so also happy anniversary Rocco for tomorrow!)

Lovely coloured hibiscus and quite a tricky puzzle (made harder by the sun going in and out of clouds and reflecting on the screen! But I wasn't going to draw the curtains!!) Happy Mother's Day for those that celebrate it today.

Daily Jigsaw | May 9, 2009 | report abuse
Just done 2 puzzles in a row - Nancy's colourful muriel (but where was it?!!) and Dave's glorious scene - as I was with my parents last night so I could accompany my mother on a coach trip to Westminster Abbey to see the amazing floral displays for NAFAS 50th anniversary. Very busy, so took over 2 hrs to get round!!

Another museum diorama - of a kudu, I think. Dale obviously went round the Africa displays! Prefer my animals alive rather than stuffed.
-
Daily Jigsaw | May 6, 2009 | report abuse
Sky was trickier than on Gerty's lighthouse pic, but it still went together reasonably quickly and the pyramid turned out easier than expected too! Another place on my 'must see' list - thanks Svetlana for a well composed photo.
-
Daily Jigsaw | May 5, 2009 | report abuse
Yesterday's review never posted - all I said was that they must have been stuffed museum specimens of African hunting dogs aka painted dogs. It was a wet day but we still had a picnic in between showers at a National Trust place with my sister & family! Today's "muriel" was interesting and I found it easier than I expected. Would have been nice to know where it is though.

Very nice photo Gerty! There were just enough gradations of colour in the sky to make it fun to do rather than tedious. Another sunny day so far today, so it'll be back out into the garden later...

Those jellyfish must be some of the most photographed creatures going! I know I took several pictures when we were at Monterey and there have been at least 3 similar jigsaws over past few the years. Good fun though, and not as difficult as it first looked.

Boring colours but a cute picture when finished. I could just do with a nap myself! Skippy the **** kangaroo was actually a wallaby. I did see the 'wild' population in Bedfordshire once years and years ago but they've probably mostly gone now as Mimi says.
-
Daily Jigsaw | May 1, 2009 | report abuse
That was worthwhile doing as a mirror image as there was enough difference between the halves to make it quite straightforward. Sunshine and showers ober the past couple of days here - so the grass is growing like mad! Have been watching the great**** coming and going to the nestbox in the magnolia so there's obviously chicks in there now!

Only just done yesterday's castle (too busy before) - would have been nice to know which one to see if I've every been there on the many Welsh holdays we've had (mind you, there are a *lot* of ruined castles in Wales!!) Good challenging puzzle though Becca. Now for today's (though it might wait until after dinner now, as my tummy is rumbling!)

It wasn't a C&H one! Easy oval to start the week. Mimi - groan!!! JillyW - so it's your fault that we have had pouring rain and cold temps all day then?! Good job hubby cut the grass before we took Nigel home this weekend, but the rain will make it all grow faster...

Very nice Bianca - lots of colour and texture and a well-disguised flutterby! Lovely sunny day today but not many butterflies here - it's generally causing concern. I do my bit by leaving a patch of nettles for the caterpillars, even though that's got me stung when weeding before now!!

Oho! SW are keeping us on our toes by putting the Friday special on Tuesday! Knew it was going to be a Chihuly - the only question was where, so thanks for the info EJ. Not too difficult to put together either, and a very colourful result. Well, Open House has finished, so I'm going to have to do what I thought - become a Club Shockwave member (which was SWs plan all along, I'm sure!) Just heard my cousin has had to go into hospital, so looks like another Nottingham trip is required ASAP

I did the edges in mirror-image mode, but then decided I didn't have the time (or the patience!) to do the rest that way, so took the opportunity to use the options to make it a 'normal' puzzle while Club Shockwave is 'Open House'. I could be wrong, but I do wonder if SW deliberately chose the 'wrong' effect to make us freebies realise what we'll be missing next week! I may well end up becoming a payer...!!

Excellent photo Carmel and a tricky puzzle of one of the largest kingfishers. I had a song my old great aunt used to do running through my head the whole time! "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree / Merry, merry king of the **** is he / Laugh, kookaburra, laugh kookaburra / *** your life must be" - sung as a round, with actions, and removing words each time. It was hilarious when there were a lot of us doing it!!

Couldn't doubt that the picture was going to be by Cinda and Holger again, but what a fabulous one! Tricky to do with the (horrid) grass background but worth the effort. Shame we can't see the elegant long legs too, but then it wouldn't have been a close-up! Off to Notts again very shortly to return a little fridge my cousin brought down when he stayed recently - the medical company want it back!

I managed to mostly avoid seeing the thumbnail so that was quite confusing until I realised there was more than one bird! The feathers made the pieces line up quite nicely. I suppose we haven't had a C&H pic for a while, so I won't whinge! Marabou are ugly birds, but given their job of scavenging, I don't expect they need to look pretty!! More fun as far as I'm concerned! bulldogs look like they were enjoying themselves too - thanks Mumphrey! Snow may reappear this side of the 'pond' this week too, but probably not in the south where I am. Hubby's off up north though, so he's hoping it's not too much!!

Just managed to do yesterday's "fizzed out" picture before the changeover - nice colours & surprisingly easy. Today's purple valentine (looks very 50's to me) was another time to use the drawer - stored all the floral bits until the end after I'd got the outlines done, and it definitely made it easier (if a little slower to put them away - getting them out was quick with the Move button). Found a use for the drawer today - had partially done the light watery bits so put them aside until I could slot them in. Hope all have a good Sunday. Thoughts are with those in Australia who have lost to the dreadful fires. We may complain about the weather here in the UK, but we never suffer major extremes.

Just done two puzzles back-to-back as I didn't have time yesterday. C&H's elephant was OK and I'm actually glad it was just a 'normal' jigsaw, as any special effects would have made it take too long to do! Thumbs up for the lovely picture - gorgeous colours! Sideways thumb for the hint and tray options - I'm not likely t use them, but i can see that some people might find them useful. Sort of guessed it was going to be another C&H pic. Not too difficult to do - wonder if they told it to 'shoo' (sorry!) My car is being serviced so I've got another walk back to pick it up later (and gulp at the repair bill!) which should be more pleasant than when I dropped it off at the garage early this morning - it was freezing fog then, but the sun's out now.

Happy Year of the Ox! Nice and colourful and quite a tricky easy oval (shame it was a professional pic again though). Tabs is on antibiotics again, but that's all - phew!! It's the time of year for neutered males with cystitis - the vet's seen lots recently.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jan 25, 2009 | report abuse
Interesting buildings, but would love to have known more - India's a big place!! Not feeling too happy myself today - Tabs is showing signs of urinary problems again, so I'll have to go to the vet with him tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed it's just an infection...

Iconic London landmark that has been photographed a lot, but yours was a good crisp picture Michele. Like the way the clouds lined up with the top deck! My parents went on an organised tour to the bridge and found it fascinating, though it wasn't raised while they were there.

Lovely picture Jack & I thought that sign was especially pretty. Reasonably tricky pixellation in parts - a good end to the week. Here's hoping all that are unwell improve soon and the pain lessens for those with sore hearts.

Got myself a bit tangled in the rigging to start with, but once I'd sorted out which mast went where, it all came together quite nicely. Congrats on the double, Jo - Daily Diff yesterday and the jigsaw today!!

ellie - I always use the 'edges' & 'move' options so I get the frame done and the centre cleared - helps dramatically!

Gerty, did you say this was yours? Interesting shot whatever! I like the firtree connectors (didn't we have them over Christmas too?)

I just knew that was going to be another C&H photo. Reasonably tricky to do. Happy Anniversary MDEW & Joe, and also for Farr tomorrow.

Even with the names underneath I didn't recognise any of those people apart from MLK! More info would have been useful, but I suppose there's always google!!

Interesting heron statue and taken at an 'artistic' angle too! Thanks for the late evening challenge Donna. My littlest almost-3 niece was christened today and was amazingly quiet throughout the whole thing, which is very unusual!

Well, whoever you are and whatever the cat is called, it certainly was beautiful! Started with those eyes and the nose, then the rest was simply following the direction of the fur. Tabs is asleep on my lap - he's not interested that it's a kitty picture this time!

Bonnie that was one spectacular sunrise! Only just got to do the puzzle before the change to today's, so I'm really glad I didn't miss it!! Think I'll get my coffee before I start the next jigsaw...

Lovely coleus Ann. Tend to have them as houseplants here rather than outside. They do come in a marvellous range of colour and texture. Magde the mistake of not leaving the heating on last night and it was really frosty, so now the house will take half a day to warm up again!

Managed to avoid seeing the thumbnail so this was an interesting challenge. Nice lot of information Donna. Cold & foggy today. Just cleaned up a load of feather as Tabs went & caught a great t it, but I couldn't really tell him off. Time to trim his claws though!!

Daily Jigsaw | Jan 9, 2009 | report abuse
I too found the bottom half much easier than the sky. Intriguing scenery - thought it might be termite mounds from the thumbnail! Thanks for the antipodean image Bev. Wendy, my thoughts and condolences are with you and Lisa on your loss.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jan 8, 2009 | report abuse
Blimey, Stacey - that was a bit tricky today! Did all the 'holes' first then joined them up, found the main veins and then matched the rest on shape (and a bit of colour). My tea went rather cold (yuck!)
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jan 7, 2009 | report abuse
That's somewhere on my 'must visit' list. Good photo Janine - and a slightly trickier puzzle than I thought it would be. We're still in the middle of a cold snap - around freezing all day - which is unusual round here. I hate to think what the gas bill's going to be like!
-

Sideways thumb. A challenging puzzle and lots of info, but it's another C&H one. For a vulture, that one is almost attractive! I'm now very late for work. weeborg - hope ******** improves.

Mount Everest - as seen by Disney, I reckon! I thought the mountain looked rather pink, which is nicely explained by it being small and totally artificial!! Simple enough layered picture Tara. I wouldn't mind being somewhere warm right now as there was a rather hard frost again last night and this room is only 54F!!

Managed to avoid the thumbnail preview so had no idea what this was going to be! Matched on colour, texture and shape then started singing 'Three coins in a fountain' halfway through - and was surprised that it had been an appropriate choice! Good image Linzi - made a reasonably challenging puzzle. Very frosty start again today, but at least it's dry for my cousin travelling home to Nottingham.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Jan 2, 2009 | report abuse
Not the best picture to choose for a mirror image as the two sides were rather similar, so like MtMama I used shapes rather than colours. Well and truly challenging! Lovely scene Katie.

Loved the little star connectors on that puzzle. I've never managed to get a decent photo of fireworks, so I'm not surprised SW used a pro picture! Even frostier last night and won't get any warmer today, so we'll have a chilly journey over to my parents' house this evening. Happy New Year to all mf's in puzzle land!!

Nice enough mountain pic - very blue and white - but I could have done with warmer colours today as there was a hard frost last night and it's a tad cool in our study! Got Tabs on my lap keeping me a bit warmer though. Time for coffee - have a good day all!

Tricky enough pic from C&H but I think the really thin tufa towers are more spectacular than the big lumps! Sunday already - where's Christmas gone! ;)

Recognised it from the thumbnail - it's quite distinctive! Fairly easy puzzle, but a good photo - thanks Judy. Yesterday was rather noisy as expected, so I'm strangely glad that today is just normal chores at home! Must make some tea and wake up the two sleepyheads (hubby and cousin) - have a great day all!

Another professional pic - but I suppose people don't necessarily send in ones to match the occasions SW want to highlight. Happy Kwanzaa to those that celebrate it. Sorry I was a grump yesterday - didn't realise that blue & silver had significance for Chanukah. Never too old to learn! We had a riotous family Xmas lunch at my middle sister's, and it probably won't be much quieter today at the youngest's! Hope all can enjoy a Boxing Day with loved ones around them.

Sideway thumb again - seasonal picture but a) professional and b)rather dull colours. It was reasonably tricky to do but not that enjoyable. Bah humbug! The turkey's in the oven and we're going to unwrap our presents soon... Happy Christmas to all that celebrate it in any form!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 24, 2008 | report abuse
Tricky puzzle, but not what I'd call seasonal for the north! Am feeling not that well at the mo, so hope I improve for tomorrow or I'll be cooking a turkey but not eating any of it!

Lovely red baubles - very seasonal. Didn't realise how big they were going to be from the thumbnail! Would have been nice to know where the picture was taken though Suzanne. My cousin is now here to stay until the new year, so he'll have a nice family Christmas which will hopefully alleviate feelings of loss.

Nice layers to make that puzzle easier. Lovely calm shot Lena - but it makes me want to run around making footprints and spoiling it (that's the big kid in me!) I can see dejected-looking blue **** out of the window, so must refill the feeders!! Have a good Sunday all

Daily Jigsaw | Dec 20, 2008 | report abuse
I did the tinsel and angels and then was suddenly aware of a pair of eyes! Inky looks quite comfy nestled in the tree! I have just decorated the second (artificial) tree having wrapped all the presents after a successful shopping trip today (the shops weren't that busy, so things are looking dire for the retail sector), so I might even be ready for Xmas a few days ahead this year! Mimi - get well soon; Gramary - nice to 'see' you; speedway - welcome back!!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 19, 2008 | report abuse
What a lovely picture Shelley! I can see why you took that photo. It made a fairly easy sepia colour changer. The weekend's nearly here and Christmas is just around the corner - I got the tree decorated last night, but all the wrapping (and some buying - erk!) is still to be done ... HELP! I need more hours per day!!

Sideways thumb. It was a challenging-enough puzzle and the information was good, but I've seen better looking anemones than this!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 17, 2008 | report abuse
Aha, so that was the C&H puzzle mentioned last week! Did the colourful lizard first, then the background was matched on colour and texture mostly, though the dark bands helped too. Nice bit of info again. Now to decorate the tree...
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 16, 2008 | report abuse
Lovely colourful reminder of seasons past - quite an easy puzzle too. Thanks Elaine! Left work early and bought a tree on the way home, so we'll have the proper Christmassy smell this year (artificial just isn't the same!)
-

Wonderfully atmospheric and artistic photo Deb! OK as an oval - didn't lose too much of the real image.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 14, 2008 | report abuse
Fabulous photo Pam - you can guarantee to please the puzzle family if you send in a sunrise or sunset! Luscious colours - I started in the middle and worked out so I didn't finish on black. Rain finally stopped and wind has dropped, so we'll venture out to buy a Christmas tree. Have a good Sunday all!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 13, 2008 | report abuse
We *so* need a sideways thumb! It looked very daunting to start with, but did the light bit and the red bit and the green bit and the trunk and then the rest just fitted in by shape mostly. Didn't notice the ice until the caption came up. Bit short on info even if it was factual. It's been raining all night and it's very windy too so the birds are swinging around trying to eat the peanuts! I'll have to venture out on a refill mission soon though...
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 12, 2008 | report abuse
Quite a tricky one - it got a bit confusing after the sky! All made rather more difficult by the fact that I am lounging on my bed with my new laptop on my legs and Tabs was lying on my chest so I had to peer round him (until he jumped off for some food!)

Only just done yesterday's C&H pic. It was nice and layered and quite easy despite the special cut, but I hope that's the last of theirs as they've been "hogging" the submissions a bit recently! Now to do Stonehenge...

Good closeup Jenny - made quite an interesting puzzle. I was amazed at the different colours that showed up in the picture! Not so frosty today, so must get out and refill the bird feeders then get off to work...

It could be Big Cat Diary - all it needs is Jonathan Scott's voice to complete the picture! Another good photo from Cinda and Holger - they must have been "on safari".
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 7, 2008 | report abuse
Very blue and white. Good to have an explanation of what & where it was, but shame it was a professional picture again. Guess it's difficult for Shockwave to do otherwise if they want to mark a particular occasion and there's no user-submitted photo to fit. Went out for lunch with all the family and a bunch of friends - we've had a busy weekend!! Work time comes around all too soon.
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 6, 2008 | report abuse
Pretty challenging with all that dried grass background. I was playing 'guess the antelope species' as I was putting it together and was glad I guessed right! It's the face that gives them away. Congrats to Cinda and Holger for 2 pics in one week! We were back in town again today for a trip on the London Eye with some of the family, followed by sushi lunch - clear sunny skies (if rather cold) made for a very enjoyable day, but it's back to the chores now!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 5, 2008 | report abuse
Pixellation didn't really make it much more difficult today. The elephant only became obvious after it was finished. Very late tonight as we've been out for a Turkish meal in London with some work colleagues - I'm full, tipsy and rather tired now! Night night all!!

Daily Jigsaw | Dec 4, 2008 | report abuse
Nice photo Sylvia, but it would have been lovely to know where those costumes were being displayed! Tried to do the red rope first (after the edges), but kept getting distracted by the yellow and white!! Well, it rained all night and now the sun's out, so no snow down here - how bad is it north of the border, nektia & magaroonie? Happy Birthday kaymac!
-
Daily Jigsaw | Dec 3, 2008 | report abuse
That was good and challenging! Hooky pieces and lots of brown made for a tricky puzzle - slower than usual as I'm on the old PC at the mo and the mouse is a bit 'sticky'. It's been a very cold day here with heavy frost this morning - and there may be snow tomorrow! Brrr - winter has arrived.
