Contract Project Manager - Shockwave

Shockwave.com is one of the leading destinations for casual games and fun on the internet. We are seeking a Contract Project Managers to work on an 'as needed' and 'per project' basis. Project timeframes range from a month and up and vary in complexity. You will be working daily with marketing managers, product managers, sales team, designers, writers, developers, and QA staff to manage each project through to launch. Contractors must be able to work most project hours from our office in San Francisco's Financial District. Shockwave is a wholly owned subsidiary of Viacom Inc. and is a division of MTV Networks.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop detailed project specifications and timelines based on business requirements, consumer insights and company capabilities.
  • Coordinate with site production (project management, creative, editorial, etc.) and engineering to establish resource needs and best practices for feature and site development.
  • Manage the implementation of assigned projects; managing project tasks, resources, timelines & delivery dates, risk management and intra-company communication.
  • Communicate frequently with project stakeholders: provide regular status reports and develop informed deployment strategies - escalating to senior management whenever decisions must be made that alter project deliveries.
  • QA final deliveries to ensure requested and delivered feature sets match original requirements.

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Knowledge and passion for interactive entertainment and games is preferred.
  • Experience producing community features on a website a plus.
  • Experience with e-commerce and/or entertainment websites is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Web development processes including experience gathering requirements, creative review processes and writing functional design documents.
  • Proven ability to manage a combination of design, production and engineering resources.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented individual to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables where limited standardization exists.
  • Knowledge of MS Project, various development techniques and user interface design.
